Apple held its fall keynote, which means the new iPhones have arrived. Below, we’ll show you the biggest new features.
iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
This year Apple introduced two “base” models again: a 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch version. Available colors include black, white, green, yellow, and pink. Storage options are 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
The frame remains aluminum, but Apple promises that the iPhone 15 series will be easier to repair—especially when it comes to the back glass.
The base models come with the A16 Bionic chip, which delivers about a 40% performance boost compared to the A14 Bionic (iPhone 12).
We also get a 48 MP main camera, making photography even better. Thanks to Action Mode, stable handheld video recording is possible even while moving.
When do you need to charge?
Battery life is impressive:
Up to 26 hours of video playback on the Plus model
Around 20 hours on the smaller model
That’s more than enough for a full day—even for heavy use.
Dynamic Island for everyone!
The notch is officially gone—every iPhone now features the Dynamic Island, previously exclusive to Pro models.
Only the iPhone SE remains with the old design.
Goodbye Lightning, hello USB-C
Apple has finally switched to USB-C charging for iPhones.
This means:
Easier charging
No need for separate Lightning cables
This change will definitely divide opinions. Some users have waited years for it, while others have already invested heavily in Lightning cables.
iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
The Pro models now feature the A17 Pro chip, with a 6-core GPU and major performance gains:
Up to 4× faster GPU performance compared to A16
Neural Engine is twice as fast
Can handle nearly 35 trillion operations per second
For users upgrading from an iPhone 12 Pro, this can mean up to 70% performance improvement.
Action Button – finally useful?
The mute switch has been replaced with a customizable Action Button.
You can assign functions such as:
Camera
Flashlight
Voice memos
Shortcuts
New Design
While the overall shape hasn’t changed much since the iPhone 12, the materials have:
Stainless steel → replaced with titanium + aluminum
New slightly curved edges
Lighter and more durable design
The result: a phone that is lighter, stronger, and more comfortable to hold.
The redesigned internal structure also makes the back glass easier to replace, reducing repair costs.
Better photos than ever
Camera improvements include:
48 MP main sensor
Multiple zoom levels
Improved night photography
The Photonic Engine combines high-resolution and light-optimized images, resulting in automatic 24 MP photos.
Portrait mode now:
Works automatically
Allows focus adjustment even after taking the photo
Supports Live Photos
No accessories needed
Thanks to Action Mode:
Stable video without a gimbal
You can also shoot in 48 MP ProRAW, giving you more flexibility in editing.
The main camera offers focal lengths:
24mm
28mm
35mm
The iPhone 15 Pro series is also the first smartphone to support ACES (Academy Color Encoding System)—used in professional film production.
Spatial video
The new iPhones can record spatial video, designed to be experienced with Apple Vision Pro.
This creates a 3D-like immersive viewing experience.
Battery, storage, and colors
Battery life (video playback):
Around 29 hours (Pro Max)
Around 23 hours (Pro)
Storage options:
128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB
Available colors:
Natural titanium
Blue titanium
White titanium
Black titanium
Summary
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are great choices for everyday users. They offer everything most people need, but since there’s no major leap compared to the 13 and 14 series, upgrading from those may not be necessary. From iPhone 12 and older, however, the upgrade is worth it.
For the Pro models, the situation is mixed:
Camera upgrades are significant
The new design and Action Button are nice, but not game-changing
Upgrading from a 14 Pro may not feel essential, but from a 13 Pro or older, it’s definitely worth considering.
For iPhone 13 Pro users, resale value is still relatively high, and since current Pro prices have slightly decreased, upgrading can be done with a smaller additional investment.
